"In Days in the Dark, I plunged myself in the idea of solitude. As a person living in a place where almost always crowds of people are moving and living a fast paced life, even people thousands of kilometers away are just a few buttons reach. I wondered. I wondered if people still remember how it feels to be in solitude, where connection is a necessity. In this kind of environment, I ponder on how people move and think within themselves. Most especially on how they cope in the almost maddening of situations while being alone in a crowd, unseen in the shadows or invisible in the brightness of day.

But all of these photographs are just mere guesses and opinions. How I view these notions are just my personal commentary and observations of my surroundings. At the same time this could be the reflection of myself on how I behave in a state of solitude, whether it be as my sanctuary or chaos.

All the photographs are shot in film, carefully selected and printed using lith techniques in a makeshift darkroom."

About the Photographer: Teo Esguerra is a graphic artist from the Philippines. He does photography during his free time, at first to release stress then after a few years, decided that he will take it more seriously. 2012 was the year he started shooting film photographs, he saw a Lomography shop in Singapore, bought a Colorsplash camera and immediately fell in love. A year later, he started developing and printing his own photographs in a makeshift darkroom. Most of his subjects are street scenes, landscapes, and portraits. He admires the works of Nobuyoshi Araki, Daido Moriyama, Alec Soth, Rinko Kawauchi, and Sally Mann.
