* * *

We know summer is here because we can feel it. We can see it. And sometimes, we can hear it.  Through the heat of the sun at this time of the year, we have grown to refer to summer as a time to sit back and relax.

For some of us, we do not simply get to take a break from our daily lives: our fears, problems, and insecurities do not break for the season.

Sometimes the burning haze of the heat during this time of year slows time down and causes it to seem as if the burning burden of the sun on our shoulders will last forever.

We seek shade and we seek solace.

As the sun sets each day during the summer months, our skin cools with the Earth. We try to battle the heat without a purpose. We waste our efforts on what is insignificant because when winter comes, we will still hope for summer.
