"This mix represents the emotions of the last 6 months of myself and those closest to me. This mix is a celebration of life; love, loss, fear, pleasure, pain, and everything in between. It is dedicated to Sofia, all those close to me, all of the guests who have done mixes for CXB7 over the last three years, all the great musick that has been played (and the artists that created it), all those who have helped out with the broadcasts and mixes over the years, all of the blogs and media that have helped promote the series (especially big shouts to Tomi at Parallel Planets for co-promoting this 3 year anniversary!), and ov course, all the listeners who have supported this series and listened to the mixes. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
When I first heard Outlands' new album, Love is as Cold as Death, I felt inspired to build a mix around it. It caused me to hear songs within songs in my head in a weirdly connected way of syncopations and snippets. At the same time, someone that I love very much was going through some very hard times with loss of a family member and horrible reoccurring natural disasters. I wanted this mix to connect all of these things and it is quite serendipitous the way all of these songs seemed to assemble themselves in my head in this order (and that the release date of the Outlands album would coincide with the 3 year anniversary of CXB7). The best way to describe the way the mix came together would be when you have an earworm or song repeating endlessly in your head. Sometimes an earworm breaks between two songs in a weird place so that the two songs become a loop in your mind. This is how this mix was constructed, as one massive earworm."
